The BSBSA project hosts the first art intervention in the series, created by Serbian artist Jana Danilović in Bucharest, Romania. Street art enthusiasts are invited to join several key events: a workshop and an artist talk held by Jana, as well as a presentation on digitisation processes in street art by Liljana Radošević.
The BSBSA (Belgrade Sofia Bucharest Street Art) project proudly announces its inaugural art intervention, featuring the Serbian artist Jana Danilović, taking place in Bucharest, Romania. This marks the first in a series of transformative street art initiatives aimed at reshaping public spaces through creative expression and community engagement.
“The design I propose to Bucharest is basically a reference to Romanian street art as far as the colour is concerned, and as far as the idea and motifs are concerned. I used some of my favorites, sparrow birds and bicycle riders. So, as it turns out, the tour between Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria begins with my mural in Bucharest. Which is really exciting, as far as I’m concerned, because Romania has really exciting, strong, really diverse street art scene and it’s really going to be an honour actually to go and paint mural in Bucharest. My work that is about to happen there refers to local scene, with colors, because what strikes me the most about some really awesome Romanian muralists and street artist, is the way they use color. A far bolder and more exciting way than I usually do, so this was a challenging but really fun task so far and I’m really looking forward to it.

Jana Danilović, celebrated for her vibrant and evocative murals, will not only paint her first mural in Bucharest, in Iancului area, but will also lead a workshop and an artist talk for street art enthusiasts. These interactive sessions provide a unique opportunity for participants to delve into her artistic vision and techniques, gaining firsthand insights from one of Serbia’s most prominent street artists.
Following Jana’s artist talk, Liljana Radošević, researcher and member of the Citizen Association “Kruna,”, a part of the BSBSA project consortium, will present digitisation processes in street art and showcase exceptional VR exhibitions produced in previous Kruna projects. This presentation is part of our ongoing collaboration with the Citizen Association “Kruna” and is included in the official Romanian Street Art program. We are thrilled to have Liljana contribute her expertise to this year’s program, enriching our understanding of the intersection between street art and digital innovation.

About Jana Danilović
Jana Danilović was born in Užice in 1989. She completed her undergraduate and master studies in wall painting at the Faculty of Philology and Arts in Kragujevac and defended her master’s thesis in 2013. She received her D.A. from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 2018, defending the art research project “City and Painting – Significance and Function of Painting Interventions in Public Space“. The focus of interest and action is on the relationship between the image and various aspects of the public’s construct both through the author’s artistic work and through theoretical research and critical texts in the media. So far, she has exhibited her works several times in reference galleries in the country and abroad. She is the author of many murals and interventions in public spaces in the country, region and Europe.
About Liljana Radošević
Liljana Radošević is an art historian that is currently finishing her PhD thesis under the title Understanding Street Art; Street art in the European Context. In the research process related to the thesis, she conducted research in Barcelona, London, Berlin and Paris, where she interviewed more than fifty interviewees who were involved in various ways in contemporary European street art. She started following graffiti in Belgrade as an art history student and in the 2000s she decided it was going to be a topic of her master thesis. She was one of the crew members of the first documentary about Belgrade graffiti and has been active in researching, documenting and promoting graffiti and street art ever since. While preparing for PhD thesis defense, she is conducting research about the present state of Belgrade graffiti and street art scene that is financed from the commercial educational tours via Street Art Walks Belgrade project. She is a published author and a coordinator of the Graffiti and Street Art Research Network, an informal group of graffiti and street art researchers. She is a licenced tourist guide for Serbia.
